ew-k?-leh-leh

It’s been a day of frustrations but I’m still in the holiday mood!

I started with a trip into Downtown Hilo, its a tad shabby but I got good advice from the lady in the tourist info off and I bought a Ukulele . . .

There was some Hawaiian Dancing going on . . .

Next I went to the beach adjacent to my hotel, it was quiet and I found the a perfect spot for some doll photography.  Then before I could even get my camera out, it rained – a LOT!

Oh well, it can wait, I jumped in my Jeep, yes, a great big daft thing, and headed to the Lava viewing area.  I thought I was going to see Lava flowing into the sea, but alas . . .

The Lava viewing area was quite some way from the sea, oh well, here’s a rainbow  . . .

and here’s two rainbows, plus Japanese tourists . . .

I saw the rainbow and thought ‘ooh, it will rain again soon’.  It was sooner than I imagined, I got VERY wet and so did the Japanese.  Fortunatley it’s very warm and I didn’t take too long to dry off.

On the road back to Hilo I spotted a pretty church:
and then guess what?  yep, IT RAINED again!

I’m told the weather is better on the other side of the island, I’ll be there very soon, but not before I’ve had another stab at getting to the Lava flow, watch this space!
